<div style="line-height:200%;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#595959;">After my diagnosis, my biggest fear was that I would not be able to live a normal life during treatment. <div style="line-height:200%;text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="line-height:200%;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#595959;">I was able to stay active because I kept a positive attitude. I told myself that nothing could get me down. I owe a lot of that positive spirit to my loving and supportive husband, Marlin. He kept me, the nurses, and the doctors, laughing all the time. He even wore my wig to my last chemo session. He supported me and made me laugh on a daily basis.</span></div>

<div style="line-height:200%;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#595959;">To help, Marlin liked to draw attention to him and away from me. He kept my mind off the difficulty of my struggle. I was able to keep busy and stay positive because he was always there for me.</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="background:none repeat scroll 0 0 white;line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background:none repeat scroll 0 0 white;line-height:150%;margin-bottom:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in;"><span style="color:#666666;font-family:&quot;font-size:12pt;line-height:150%;">I found a large lump up high in my right breast just before Christmas of 2003. I made an appointment with my doctor right away. Mammograms were conducted that showed nothing. An ultrasound and an MRI also showed nothing. The lump was obvious to the touch, even through my clothing. Dr. Christina Kim at the Arizona Cancer Center did a biopsy, which revealed intraductal carcinoma, also known as DCIS. The lump was not estrogen receptive and was quickly growing. My initial reaction to my diagnosis only verified what I already knew. I began to go over treatment options with Dr. Kim and my husband, Jerry, when I suddenly lost my composure and began sobbing. That only lasted a few moments. I was determined to plow through and beat it and knew I would.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background:none repeat scroll 0 0 white;line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background:none repeat scroll 0 0 white;line-height:150%;margin-bottom:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in;"><span style="color:#666666;font-family:&quot;font-size:12pt;line-height:150%;">I had a simple mastectomy of the right breast on April 22, 2004, my daughter&#8217;s 16th birthday. It included the removal of eight sentinel nodes and two non-sentinel nodes. I received news of the node biopsy about a week later. One node came back positive. I was referred to a medical oncologist, Dr. Ana Marie Lopez. I underwent chemotherapy every other week from May through September. I developed blood clots in my arm from the first intravenous treatment, and was placed on blood thinners; my hair fell out while I was in the hospital for the blood clots. I was fitted with a port during my stay, and dealt with intense nausea throughout my treatment. I did not use any support groups, but instead my support came from my husband, daughter, (now 19), 21-year-old son, my in-laws, and my internal strength. When I was given a clean bill of health, I knew that I could tackle anything! I did have the other breast and sentinel nodes removed a year later when I found new lumps (they were benign). I never had reconstruction done.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background:none repeat scroll 0 0 white;line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background:none repeat scroll 0 0 white;line-height:150%;margin-bottom:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in;"><span style="color:#666666;font-family:&quot;font-size:12pt;line-height:150%;">As cliché as it may sound, this experience made me stronger. I enrolled in college in January 2005 to earn degrees that would help me to become an oncology social worker and patient advocate. I graduated with my associate&#8217;s degree in May 2008 and will be transferring to Arizona State University School of Social Work in Tucson in August 2008 to begin work on my bachelor&#8217;s in social work, and eventually, my M.S.W. I have learned to not let any perceived obstacle hold me back. I approach challenges head-on now with a sense of purpose and drive. I also have learned when to let go and allow others to help me. I used to think asking for help was a sign of weakness—I now know it is a sign of strength. On a lighter note, I never have to wear a bra again and I know I look good bald!</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background:none repeat scroll 0 0 white;line-height:150%;margin-bottom:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in;"></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background:none repeat scroll 0 0 white;line-height:150%;margin-bottom:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in;"><span style="color:#666666;font-family:&quot;font-size:12pt;line-height:150%;">My advice to others is to seek help and support, whether that support comes from family or professionals. I found that keeping balance of the mind; body and spirit were keys to my recovery. Keep routines as normal as possible. The most important advice I can give is to allow yourself to keep a positive attitude. Embrace your inner self and the cancer. Become friends with it by allowing it to give you strength and realize that it can be a gift. Love is stronger than death. In working with medical teams, I urge everyone to educate him or herself. Learn everything you can about your cancer and the treatment options. This way, you will understand the medical terminology your medical team is using. Be proactive in your medical decisions. I also found that most doctors prefer patients who are motivated self-educators. &nbsp;</span></div>

<div style="text-align:justify;">When Stacy Sells noticed something wasn&#8217;t quite right with her body, she went to the doctor. She had swelling and soreness in her right breast, but thought it was just inflammation.&nbsp;</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div> </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">After a round of antibiotics and tests, her doctors came back with an answer nobody wants to hear: inflammatory breast cancer. <br />&nbsp;</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">She said, &#8220;It&#8217;s a very tough cancer, I don&#8217;t want you to go home and look it up on the Internet, because you won&#8217;t read anything really good about it.&#8221; </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"> </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Inflammatory breast cancer is a particularly aggressive and rare form of cancer. </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"> </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Commonly with breast cancer you hear about a lump being found, but that&#8217;s not often the case with IBC. </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"> </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Since inflammatory breast cancer is different, many tests are still being done to learn more about it, Dr. Issam Makhoul explains. </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"> </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Our goal at this point is to determine the switches in that cancer that can be turned off so we can control it. </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"> </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Makhoul is Stacy&#8217;s oncologist. She calls him a wonderful coach throughout treatment, and said the first day she met him she knew this was a fight she could win. </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"> </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">&#8220;He said &#8220;I&#8217;m going to give you not just my best but more than my best if you turn over your cancer treatment to me. But I need you to be in charge of your spiritual and your emotional and your mental, and said &#8216;if we do more than our best I think we can cure this cancer and I believed him.&#8221; </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"> </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Cases of IBC are first treated with chemo, then surgery if needed. <br />&nbsp;</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Stacy&#8217;s cancer is now in remission, and Makhoul attributes not just the right combination of drugs and treatments, but also her determination to never give up. </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"> </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">&#8220;Stacy knows that she&#8217;s fighting not only for her life but also for every woman who is one day, who might be one day in her shoes when you combine the sensitivity of this cancer with her determination, I think that&#8217;s where we had a winning combination.&#8221; </div>

<p>New research out of the Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) in Washington, DC, has found yet another link between high vitamin D intake and a reduced risk of breast cancer. Presented at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the findings reveal that high doses of vitamin D are linked to a 50 percent reduction in tumor cases, and a 75 percent reduction in overall cancer growth among those who already have the disease.</p>
<p>For several years now, researchers have observed a correlation between low vitamin D levels and high rates of disease, including breast cancer. As a result, many of them have initiated various studies designed to verify whether or not a causative link exists between vitamin D deficiency and disease. So far, the results suggest that vitamin D plays a critical role in preventing and treating disease.</p>
<p>In the GUMC study, researchers evaluated mice with breast cancers sensitive to estrogen, which is the most common type, as well as those with breast cancers not sensitive to estrogen. In both cases, vitamin D supplementation proved to help inhibit the development and growth of breast cancers. Estrogen-sensitive breast cancers in particular, though, seemed to respond best to the vitamin D.</p>
<p>Earlier this year, French scientists found that getting vitamin D from both supplementation and the sun is the most effective way to prevent and treat breast cancers. A team from France&#8217;s version of the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) pored through the records of over 67,000 women and found that those who lived in the sunniest areas of southern France had a 50 percent reduced risk of developing cancer compared to those living in less sunny areas. And those who got their vitamin D primarily from sunshine rather than from their diets were 32 percent less likely than others to develop breast cancer.</p>
<p>Currently, there are two major human trials on vitamin D being conducted in the US. These studies are meant to verify what previous studies have found concerning the effect of vitamin D on animals &#8212; mainly that high-dose vitamin D is an effective and natural intervention for preventing and treating disease in humans.</p>
<p>The Vitamin D Council also has an extensive compilation of scientific literature involving vitamin D and breast cancer that you can view here:<br /><a href="http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/cancerBreast.shtml" target="_blank">http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/canc&#8230;</a></div>

<p>Vitamin D has been in the news recently as more studies talk about the metabolic effects of the vitamin and why we need it. A new study has added to evidence for the need for vitamin D. In a study just published in the journal <i>Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers &amp; Prevention</i>, scientists report that breast cancer patients with low levels of vitamin D have more aggressive tumors and a higher risk of recurrence.</p>
<p>This is not a surprising result for many physicians working with cancer patients, as the link between vitamin D and cancer in general is a fact. There is also a growing understanding that current intake recommendations are too low.</p>
<p>&#8220;Many oncologists are already following vitamin D levels in their breast cancer patients and recommending supplements for low levels,&#8221; said Dr. Laurie Kirstein, a breast surgeon at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. &#8220;To link vitamin D levels to the aggressiveness of a particular type of breast cancer is an interesting finding.&#8221; Dr. Kirstein added that this evidence should be followed up with a controlled trial.</p>
<p>The current study expands the general knowledge of vitamin D and cancer, putting the link into a context of a particular type of cancer and a particular cancer activity. The study, which examined 155 women at the University of Rochester, also found a link between low vitamin D levels and every major biological marker that is used to indicate prognosis of the disease.</p>
<p>&#8220;The magnitude of the findings was quite surprising,&#8221; said Luke J. Peppone, the lead researcher and Research Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology. &#8220;Based on these results, doctors should strongly consider monitoring vitamin D levels among breast cancer patients and correcting them as needed.&#8221;</p>
<p>While this study still needs follow up with larger, controlled studies, it also reinforces a belief in the importance of vitamin D, or as the original publication puts it, the information here adds, &#8220;support to previous research that found decreased breast cancer survival among vitamin D deficient individuals.&#8221;</p>
<p>Current recommendations for vitamin D are 600 International Units (IU) per day for most people. Many researchers, however, regard this number as strangely low. Dr. Robert Heaney, who researches vitamin D at Creighton University, says that adults should be getting at least 4,000 IUs per day, still well within a safe upper limit of 10,000, and which may help protect against cancer and other diseases.</p></div>

<p>Breast cancer is a serious concern for women. According to the National Cancer Institute, the disease took about 50,000 lives last year in the U.S. alone. But the mainstream media, as well as mainstream medicine, often treat breast cancer as something that strikes out of the blue &#8212; giving women no choice but to hope they are not one of the &#8220;unlucky&#8221; ones to get breast cancer. At the same time this subjects women to to mammography so a malignancy can be spotted early, despite the fact the actual radiation exposure associated with mammograms is known to raise the risk of breast cancer in some women.</p></div>
<div style="background-color:transparent;color:black;overflow:hidden;text-align:justify;text-decoration:none;border-color:0;border-style:none;border-width:medium;">But here&#8217;s good news. Scientists studying natural compounds in plants are finding many may offer some level of protection against breast cancer. That means women can start taking control of their breast cancer risk by paying attention to what they eat and drink. In detailed research just published in BioMed Central&#8217;s open access journal <i>Breast Cancer Research</i>, <i><b>scientists from Sweden&#8217;s prestigious Karolinska Institute present compelling evidence that something in coffee slashes the risk of breast cancer.</b></i></p>
<p>The new study concludes that drinking coffee specifically reduces the risk of what researchers call <i>anti-estrogen-resistant estrogen-receptor (ER) negative</i> breast cancer, dubbed ER-negative breast cancer for short.</p>
<p>The Sweden research team compared lifestyle factors and coffee consumption between women with breast cancer and women the same age that did not have any breast malignancies. <i><b>It turns out that coffee drinkers had a far lower incidence of breast cancer overall than women who rarely drank coffee.</b></i></p>
<p>Delving further into the impact of coffee, the scientists looked at several lifestyle factors that affect breast cancer rates, including age at menopause, exercise, weight, education, and a family history of breast cancer. Once they had adjusted their data to account for all of these factors, they found that the protective effect of coffee on breast cancer zeroed on one type of the disease &#8212; the ER-negative breast cancer.</p>
<p>Although the evidence appears strong that coffee has beneficial effects in protecting women from ER-negative breast cancer, it&#8217;s not clear just what the mechanism and compounds involved are. The researchers noted in a statement to the media that the protection from coffee may be due to way the coffee is prepared, or perhaps the type of coffee bean used.</p></div>
<div style="background-color:transparent;color:black;overflow:hidden;text-align:justify;text-decoration:none;border-color:0;border-style:none;border-width:medium;">The new coffee study is the latest in a growing body of scientific data showing that natural substances are formidable weapons to both prevent various types of breast cancer and even halt cancerous growth once cells are malignant.</p>
<p>For example, in a study published in the journal <i>Crop Science</i>, Colorado State University scientists studied the anti-cancer activity of six kinds of dry legumes and found consumption of every kind of bean reduced the incidence of cancer and tumors in animal models.</p>
<p>In addition, Elaine Hardman, PhD, associate professor of medicine at Marshall University School of Medicine, gives this advice to women based on her cancer research: eat more walnuts. Her research strongly suggests those nuts can substantially reduce the risk of breast cancer. <br /><a href="http://www.naturalnews.com/032371_coffee_breast_cancer.html#ixzz1NYULHZv1" style="color:#003399;"></a></div>

</ul>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="font-family:&quot;">Toxic substances have chemicals or mixtures that may be harmful to the environment and to human health if inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed through the skin. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="font-family:&quot;">I get the shivers when I think about this subject matter because most of the products we use carry toxins.&nbsp; When you clean your home for instance, you can smell the chemicals in the air. &nbsp;&nbsp;Many companies that produce cleaning products choose to hide these toxic smells with the offset of lavender, citrus, orange or the many other pretty smells they mix with the cleaning solutions.&nbsp; </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="font-family:&quot;">We are inhaling poisons into our bodies when we clean.&nbsp; We wash our clothes with solutions that carry toxins and we wear the clothes that have been exposed to toxins.&nbsp; What is being absorbed into our skin?&nbsp; Are we setting ourselves up for disaster?&nbsp; Cancer is on a rise, epilepsy, autism, asthma, ask yourself why?&nbsp; Are the products we use in our home a contributing factor to these illnesses and diseases?</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="font-family:&quot;">While these products clean and disinfect our home, some of the chemicals in these products can irritate your shin, eyes, nose and throat, or can even poison children and pets.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="font-family:&quot;">If you are concerned and you want to start, cleaning your home with safer products you may want to begin by considering using a homemade glass cleaner.&nbsp; <b>Here is how:</b></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-indent:-.25in;vertical-align:top;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">·</span><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;font-size:7pt;line-height:150%;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">1 cup rubbing alcohol </span><span style="font-family:&quot;"></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-indent:-.25in;vertical-align:top;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">·</span><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;font-size:7pt;line-height:150%;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">1 cup water </span><span style="font-family:&quot;"></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;text-indent:-.25in;vertical-align:top;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">·</span><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;font-size:7pt;line-height:150%;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">1 tablespoon vinegar </span><span style="font-family:&quot;"></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;margin-bottom:12pt;vertical-align:top;"><span style="font-family:&quot;"></p>
<p><span style="color:black;">Using isopropyl alcohol and white vinegar together makes a quickly evaporating spray glass and mirror cleaner that competes with national brands. This can also be used to give a nice shine to hard tiles, chrome, and other surfaces.</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%;vertical-align:top;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">Remember, it is great to live in a clean home as long as you are not harming the ones who live there. </span><span style="font-family:&quot;"></span></div>

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align:left;">
<div dir="ltr" style="text-align:left;">
<div style="text-align:justify;">Red, ripe and delicious, strawberries are a little fruit that work overtime for your health.&nbsp;</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Peak strawberry season is just around the corner, so now is the perfect time to add strawberries to your menu for summer weight loss. From farm stands to your local supermarket, these luscious berries are sure to turn up just about everywhere.&nbsp;</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">And don&#8217;t forget about the amazing organically grown strawberries that come from California year round. </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">The exciting research that is being done shows that the special nutritional components in strawberries might be able to stimulate your metabolism and help suppress your appetite. They can control blood sugar and can also help you lose weight.</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">It is no wonder that scientists across the United States, in Sweden and other countries have been researching the wonders of the strawberry and discovering more evidence of its health benefits. There is no doubt that strawberries have joined the other rock stars of super nutritious fruit such as blueberries, cherries, cranberries and pomegranates.</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"><b>What Gives Strawberries Their Nutritional Punch?</b></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Strawberries are a healthy food to eat to lose weight, because there are 49 calories in one cup of strawberries. They are also loaded with Vitamin C, 3 grams of fiber, and some calcium, magnesium, and potassium. </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"><b>Strawberries are rich sources of phenolic antioxidants that can help:</b></div>
<ol style="text-align:justify;">
<li>reverse inflammation</li>
<li>aid in weight loss</li>
<li>reduce the risk of chronic disease.</li>
</ol>
<div style="text-align:justify;">University of Illinois researchers found that the most abundant antioxidants in strawberries are ellagic acid, as well as the flavonoids quercetin, kaempferol anthocyanin and catechin. They further pointed out that strawberry extracts have shown to inhibit COX enzymes in laboratory experiments. This would mean that strawberries could have the potential to help reduce inflammation and pain.</p>
<p>Learn more about fruit anthocyanin&#8217;s ability to reduce pain in Cherry Season: Fight Pain and Inflammation.</p></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"><b>Research on Strawberries and Disease</b></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"><b>Research results indicate that strawberries can provide nutritional support to fight aging and disease:</b></div>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li class="first">In vitro laboratory experiments from Cornell University suggest that strawberry extracts may help inhibit the growth of liver cancer cells.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
<p>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li class="last">Studies with laboratory animals demonstrated benefits of strawberries for the aging brain.</li>
</ul>
<p>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Writing in the <i>Journal of Medicinal Food</i> scientists from Clemson University examined the cancer fighting potential of various berries. They note: &#8220;Plants are proven sources of useful anti-tumor and chemopreventative compounds. Hence, identification of phytochemicals useful in dietary prevention and intervention of cancer is of paramount importance.&#8221; Evaluating the results of their experiments the Clemson researchers concluded: &#8220;Juice from strawberry, blueberry, and raspberry fruit significantly inhibited mutagenesis.&#8221;</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"><b>Strawberries Help Protect the Heart</b></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Strawberry extracts have direct anti-inflammatory effects, inhibiting the activation of genes and enzymes that promote inflammation.&nbsp;</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Most of this benefit is due to another group of phenolic antioxidants called anthocyanins, which help give ripe strawberries their lush red color. Anthocyanins decrease the risk of heart disease and stroke by protecting blood vessels from the effects of wear and tear.<br /><b><br />Strawberries Promote Weight Loss</b></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"><b>The ellagic acid and anthocyanins found in strawberries aid weight loss in at least three ways:</b></div>
<ol style="text-align:justify;">
<li>Chronic inflammation blocks the hormones involved in keeping you lean. Anti-inflammatory foods like strawberries help restore normal function to weight-reducing hormones.</li>
</ol>
<p>
<ol style="text-align:justify;">
<li>Anthocyanins actually increase the body&#8217;s production of a hormone called adiponectin, which stimulates your metabolism and suppresses your appetite.</li>
</ol>
<p>
<ol style="text-align:justify;">
<li>Both ellagic acid and anthocyanins slow the rate of digestion of starchy foods, controlling the rise in blood sugar that follows a starchy meal. This effect is used to control blood sugar in people with adult-onset (Type 2) diabetes.</li>
</ol>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Learn more about making your weight loss hormones work for you in my article: Increase Metabolism with the Fat Burning Hormone Leptin <br /><b><br />Organic Strawberries Have More Nutrition&nbsp;</b></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">I recommend organically grown strawberries. Organic strawberries have been shown to have higher levels of vitamin C and than conventionally grown strawberries, due to a higher content of phenolic antioxidants.</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">In a fascinating study, researchers from Washington State University compared organic strawberries and farms to conventional strawberries and farms. They found the organic strawberries to be higher in quality, and the soil to be healthier. Specifically, in comparison to the conventionally grown berries, the organic strawberries had higher total antioxidants, ascorbic acid, and total phenolics.</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"><b>Enjoying Strawberries</b></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Strawberries give you flavor, color, and aroma, awakening your taste buds to the fresh, natural foods your body needs to be healthy and vital.&nbsp;</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">When shopping for berries, freshness is important. Identify strawberries that are bright red and firm.&nbsp;</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Strawberries are a great snack or dessert, and add color and flavor to healthy recipes. Naturally sweet and juicy, strawberries are a sublime pleasure and make a great healthy treat.</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Simply add a handful of sliced strawberries to:</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Cereal or granola <br />Hot oatmeal<br />Smoothies<br />Yogurt</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">You can eat fresh or frozen strawberries as a snack or dessert anytime. </div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Here is a recipe featuring strawberries from my book, <i>The Fat Resistance Diet</i>, an anti-inflammatory  program.</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"><b>Banana Strawberry Smoothie</b></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;"></div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">1 cup nonfat plain yogurt<br />1 banana, sliced<br />1/2 cup fresh or frozen  strawberries<br />1 tablespoon freshly ground flaxseeds<br />1 tablespoon whey protein  concentrate</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">Pour 2 tablespoons water into a blender. Add the yogurt, banana, and strawberries and blend. Put in the ground flaxseeds and whey protein. Blend until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy! Serves 1.</div>
<div style="text-align:justify;">I hope you enjoy the healthy pleasure of strawberries now and throughout the year.</p>

<div style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">When consumers buy cleaning products, we expect them make the house sparkle and shine.&nbsp; We expect the house to have that powerful clean scent that you can smell as soon as you walk in the house and you expect it to smell that way throughout the house.&nbsp; Nowadays all the cleaning products cost a lot, so for the money we pay they better do the job right!</span></p>
</div>
<div style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">We use a widespread of scents, soaps, detergents, bleaching agents, softeners, polishes, and specific cleaners for bathrooms, glass, drains, and ovens to keep our homes sparkling and smelling clean. However, while the chemicals in cleaners foam, bleach, and disinfect to make our dishes, bathtubs and counter-tops gleaming and germ-free, many also play a role to indoor air pollution, are poisonous if ingested, and can be harmful if inhaled or touched. &nbsp;Scary if you think about it.</span></div>
<div style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">Cleaning ingredients differ in the type of health risk they create. Some cause acute, or immediate, dangers such as skin or respiratory irritation, watery eyes, or chemical burns, while others are associated with chronic, or long-term, effects such as <b>cancer</b>. </span></div>
<div style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">The most unsafe cleaning products are corrosive drain cleaners, oven cleaners, and acidic toilet bowl cleaners.&nbsp; These chemicals can cause severe burns on eyes, skin and, if ingested, on the throat and esophagus. Ingredients with high acute toxicity include chlorine bleach and ammonia, which produce fumes that are highly irritating to eyes, nose, throat and lungs, and should not be used by individuals who have asthma conditions, any type of lung or heart problems. </span></div>
<div style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">Cleaning products that contain both chlorine and ammonia or ammonia and lye <b><i>(in some oven cleaners)</i></b> produces chloramine gases, while chlorine combined with acids <b><i>(used often in toilet bowl cleaners)</i></b> forms toxic chlorine gas. </span></div>
<div style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">Fragrances added to many cleaners, most notably laundry detergents and fabric softeners, may cause acute effects such as:</span></p>
</div>
<div style="line-height:150%;margin-left:39.1pt;text-align:justify;text-indent:-.25in;"><span style="color:black;font-family:Symbol;">·<span style="font:7pt &quot;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span></span><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">Respiratory irritation</span></div>
<div style="line-height:150%;margin-left:39.1pt;text-align:justify;text-indent:-.25in;"><span style="color:black;font-family:Symbol;">·<span style="font:7pt &quot;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span></span><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">Headaches</span></div>
<div style="line-height:150%;margin-left:39.1pt;text-align:justify;text-indent:-.25in;"><span style="color:black;font-family:Symbol;">·<span style="font:7pt &quot;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span></span><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">Sneezing</span></div>
<div style="line-height:150%;margin-left:39.1pt;text-align:justify;text-indent:-.25in;"><span style="color:black;font-family:Symbol;">·<span style="font:7pt &quot;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span></span><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">Watery eyes in sensitive individuals people with allergies or asthma sufferers. </span></div>
<div style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health has found that one-third of the substances used in the fragrance industry are toxic. However, because the chemical formulas of fragrances are considered trade secrets, companies do not have to list their ingredients publicly, but merely label them as containing &#8220;fragrance.&#8221; </span></div>
<div style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">Other ingredients in cleaners may contain low acute toxicity but are part of the cause for long-term health illnesses such as:</span></p>
</div>
<div style="line-height:150%;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify;text-indent:-.25in;"><span style="color:black;font-family:Symbol;">·<span style="font:7pt &quot;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span></span><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">Cancer</span></div>
<div style="line-height:150%;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify;text-indent:-.25in;"><span style="color:black;font-family:Symbol;">·<span style="font:7pt &quot;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span></span><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">Hormone disruption</span></p>
<p><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;"></span></div>
<div style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">Some all-purpose and other cleaners have toxins that can cause damage to the brain and nervous system in the end. </span></div>
<div style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">Chemicals that are so-called &#8220;hormone disruptors&#8221; can interfere with the body&#8217;s natural chemical messages, either by blocking or mimicking the actions of hormones. Possible health effects include decreased sperm counts, increased rates of male birth defects such as cryptorchidism (undescended testicles) and hypospadias (where the urethra is on the underside of the penis), and increased rates of some kinds of cancers. The alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) used in some detergents and cleaners have been shown to mimic the hormone estrogen; one APE, p-nonylphenol, has caused estrogen-sensitive breast cancer cells to multiply in a test tube study. &nbsp;&nbsp;This is just the tip of the iceberg.</span></div>
<div style="line-height:150%;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:black;font-family:&quot;">After researching about cleaning product and the possible long-term effects it can cause, it makes you stop and think about the products we use and are they really worth buying.&nbsp; Yes, you will have a clean home, but is it worth scarifying your health.&nbsp; Why risk your health and the years you have on this planet for a sparkling home when you could have <b><u>your</u></b> health, long-life and a sparkling home by using natural cleaning products.&nbsp; You make the choice.</span></p>
